ACCORDING TO THE CDC, 60% OF AMERICANS HAVE AT LEAST ONE CHRONIC DISEASE. 40% HAVE TWO OR MORE.
Risk factors for most chronic diseases can be reduced through lifestyle and behavior changes. Arming clinicians with health coaching skills that tap into individuals’ motivations to change can result in improvements in blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol, metabolic function, inflammation and more.
91% OF PATIENTS SAID THEY NEED MORE HELP WITH CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT.
A survey conducted by West Health Care shows that health care providers are not able to deliver the services patients need to help with chronic disease management. Patients report needing more engagement with their health care team – which often requires more time than physicians can provide to patients. Health coaches can step in, spend more time with patients and help answer any questions they may have about their visit and their care instructions from the doctor.
I am a proud mother of four beautiful kids and an avid fitness enthusiast. I have been in the health and fitness industry for over 20 years. I've done it all, from personal training, kickboxing coach to master Pilates instructor. I also owned a successful meal prep company. I worked with thousands of clients from all walks of life and started realizing that people needed so much more than a fad diet and a workout plan to achieve optimal health and happiness.
I would watch people get results that didn't last. This concept really hit home when I was diagnosed with Addison's disease at the same time I was going through a very traumatic time in my life. I had to completely change my own approach to wellness. I was gaining weight and feeling sick, no matter how hard I worked out and watched what I ate. I was seeing no results and the gym wasn't fun anymore. I had to learn that being healthy had to be so much more than caloric deficits and exhausting workouts.
I believe in helping each client figure out what works best for them as an individual in the areas of nutrition and exercise programming but also supporting them in the areas of life that matter most (out of the gym and off the plate) because health comes from within.
Anyone can stick to a diet or workout plan short term but what really matters is connecting the stresses in our daily lives to how we take care of ourselves and why we aren't seeing results.
